Don't be insecure. Marketing is a nightmare. We are artists, Our creativity rules us. Passion, art, literature, music.... this is what nurtures our souls.

Marketing is agressive, time consuming and robs us of our genius.

Take a deep breath... Don't look at the WHOLE picture. Take a piece at a time. Baby steps... before you know it you will have achieved amazing things.

That can be the worst kind of insecurity, feeling 'damned if I do, damned if I don't.' But I have confidence that you can find the approach that's right for you, and be strong enough to turn away from any nay-sayers.

I'm not sure what to do about it, but I think the answer is to find some sort of balance.I've been going at it with the approach that, "If I just cross all this stuff off my list, I can relax." Only for everything I cross off, I add two more things. And if I don't add them, someone else adds them for me. Obviously I need to find a better solution

And it is so hard not to fret and worry over those two things. Sometimes I try to purge those worries, take a deep breath and blow them out. Doesn't always work either. I've been very disenchanted with myself as a writer lately... I feel like I really ought to have something to show for myself at this point, but don't really feel like I do. If I had ONE completed manuscript, that'd be one thing, but... then again, I'm determined to make this my year.

As for you, I don't think you're sounding like a broken record at all... I think you sound constantly enthused about your book, and that's exactly what people want from an author. After all, if people are seeking you out, they know what they want to hear, and from authors what they want to hear is what's going on with their books!

Yes to all of the above. It's hard to know where the line is, if there even is one. It's hard to know what to spend your time on. I don't want people to think I'm lame or don't appreciate them visiting my blog. It's hard to balance life with work with writing with blogging with promotion.

Something has to give, and it can't be your sanity.

Oh ali! *hugs* I think you've been doing as much as you can with your usual awesomeness, and I know people respond to that. Insecurity is normal, and overthinking is definitely part of that. I've been doing that lately myself, and it's not a fun place to be. But I know you'll bounce back. You just have find a nice bit of footing. We're here for you. :)

I have to totally agree with Alex. It's the let-down after release. It takes a lot out of you. And you're doing fine. Trust me.

Just do what you can to promote, and write another book. It will balance itself out. Writing the next book is the key.
