I don't know that I could all the way unplug, but I try not to write. I like to visit with friends on facebook and such but I justify that to pieces by calling it communication with loved ones :) Good luck with this - I'm interested to see how it works for you.

What an excellent New Year's resolution! I think I will join you. I listened to a program on NPR a while back about a book called THE SABBATH WORLD, which is a kind of historical exploration of the Sabbath and why we have it. The interesting part was the author is atheist, or at least agnostic, and she had this really interesting perspective on the benefits of the Sabbath. I especially like when she said that we don't take a rest from our daily cares because we hate them, but because we love our work and we want to enjoy it. The Sabbath encompasses the idea that taking breaks from our activities and work increases our enjoyment of them. Absence makes the heart grow fonder! I'm going to try and take a break from all my writing activities on Sundays and I think it will help me focus and really enjoy it during the week!

I've always seen the benefit of changing things up one day a week. One day that you spend on things that are not related to what you do the other days of the week. I think it gives our minds, bodies and emotions a chance to recharge and regroup. I think it is about changing your focus. I have family days and I have me days. On family days catch up with family that live far-away, spend time with grandkids, write emails to friends and family... On me days I don't plan anything unless I want to, no work, no chores, no projects only fun like reading, drawing, daydreaming, meditating. It really keeps me balanced.

For the most part I stay off twitter, FB and my blog on the weekends. I go to church every other sunday (that's how my church rolls)so, either way, I try to make it a non- workish day. but I don't freak out if I feel like writing, that's play not work.

Well, considering that my family usually spends our Sundays at my pastors house between church because our church is a pretty good drive away, we usually dont get online until we get home. But I am all for it! I might even add Saturdays....... maybe. Since I dont really have a chance on Sundays to break it. But I agree that our world is very tech, as much as I love it, I'll be the first to admit that I'm probably addicted to it, and I think most people are! I think taking a step away from the tech world would be a GREAT thing for families!!

Sunday is usually my catch-up day for writing and TV and other random stuff. I guess I could resolve to be more unplugged then though. Yay for New Year's Resolutions! I started doing them these past 2 years, and I think it kinda helps to make them.

It does make a difference. I started this a few months ago. I actually don't write at all on the weekends. Just spend time with my family. (Unless I really really have to get something done. I'll squeeze it in on Friday or Saturday night.) But Sundays? They're my day to read or relax. Play with my kids. I don't worry about any writing things on Sundays. Good luck! You can do it! :D

I try to stay away from any writing on Sunday. We're at church all morning and then in the afternoon we all hang out. I might read, if my kids are. Or I'll sleep! :)

Or I might squeeze in my a blog post at night if I haven't gotten it ready for Monday yet. :)
