Yay for Minnie Kim!

I adore Minnie. She speaks loud and clear in my mind--so much that she really is a real live person to me. She's cute and fun, super smart but also delightfully innocent, too. She's just a breath of fresh air, ya know? The vampires in her new family, or clan, all think so too.

And now...so do some fancy people who picked Minnie out of a few hundred other books to be a finalist in the Whitney Awards. It's a small competition, but ooh, it would be wonderful to win it! (It's always fun to win, isn't it?)

Here's what the Whitney Awards are all about:

The Whitneys are an awards program for novels written by authors who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Elder Orson F. Whitney, an early apostle in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, prophesied:
“We will yet have Miltons and Shakespeares of our own. Above all things, we must be original. Our mission is diverse from all others; our literature must also be.”
It is our hope to be a part of that journey toward excellence by honoring writers who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and showcasing, through their work, the standards that make us a unique people.

Cool, eh? Thank you to everyone who nominated Minnie for this award and hey, judges...hey! judges. pssst. I have chocolate. And adorable doggies who would love to come snuggle you for a little bit in exchange for a vote in my favor! :D
